About the Company:
Fua Dia Congo (Fua) is a nonprofit performing arts company dedicated to the preservation, presentation and study of Central African culture. Founded by world-renowned master artist Malonga Casquelourd, Fua’s unique repertoire draws upon the traditions of descendents of the Kongo Kingdom, which includes modern day Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, and parts of bordering Gabon and Central African Republic.
Since 1977, the company has used the platform of traditional music, dance, theater and other artistic interpretations of daily life to dispel myths that Africa is a place where only murder, genocide, disease and starvation thrive. With this objective afoot, Fua continues to set the standard for presentation of traditional Congolese art forms on the concert stage and remains committed to serving as a cross-cultural bridge by promoting exchange and understanding.
